About Charity Search
Charity Search allows you to search the web while donating your searches to charitable causes. Every month we choose an organization to donate our searches to. All public searches will be donated to that organization. Users who create an account on Charity Search can choose which organization they want their searches to be donated to.
How does it work?
At Charity Search we donated searches, not money. As much as we would like to promise to donate x amount of dollars per search, we don't have the guarenteed income to do so. Instead we promise to make a donation for every single search we recieve. The value of each search is deterimed at the end of each month. We add up all the income we have recieved through advertising and donations, and divided that by the number of searches we recieved that month. With that value we can deterimine how much we need to donate to each organization based on how many searches where raised for it that month.
| Charity Search's Income | $892.00 |
| Searches Recieved | 92,265 |
| Value of 1 Search | $0.0096678047 |
For December of 2011 each search was worth just under 1 cent. Because Charity Search didn't yet have the feature where users could choose what organization their searches went to, all searches went towards Invisible Children. We donated 92,265 searches to Invisible Children at a value of .96678047 cents each totaling $892.
How do you pick what organizations will receive the donations?
We have a list of organizations that we cycle through. If you would like an organization added to the list you can contact us and suggest it!
